1998 Ford Ranger shaking in steering wheel and brake pedal

My brakes has always been good. Good stopping power, no noise, and smooth stopping. But recently I started to hear a high pitched noise when I would stop. So I decided it might be time to change the front Pads. After inspecting the Pads, and finding that they were quite worn down I decided to change them. Got the new set, took the old ones off, lubricated the necessary points on the pads and installed them. I also checked the rotors while I was there, and they were ok. Now, I noticed that when I apply my brakes I can feel a shaking coming from the front brakes, through the steering wheel and brake pedal. Ranger brakes are a breeze to change. What could be the problem?

Replace your rotors, or have your rotors machined... as long as they are able to be machined with O.E.M. specs, or not burned up too bad. Your rotors are warped and most likely glazed over too. You should notice a big difference in your breaking and stopping ability once the have been replaced or cut. Be careful to break the new rotors in easily, as not to glaze them over again. Also if you install new ones be sure to wash the rotors with warm soapy water first…

If the rotors are warped or glazed, shouldnt I have felt the pulsing before I changed the brakes?

Not in all cases... your old pads may have been warn/ grooved to your rotors defects.
