1998 Ford Ranger Engine surging

Have a 3.0 liter V-6 that stutters when little throttle input is applied at any speed but is most obvious under 20mph. Replaced fuel filter and put injector cleaner in fuel with no change.

Has fuel pressure been checked? 56-72 psi. How recent is tune ie. plugs ect.? check engine light on?

Have not checked fuel pressure, I know a tune up was done about 50,000 miles ago. No check engine light. Which order should I check all this stuff?

Fuel pressure first and pull a plug chcek gap for excessive wear. .o42-.046
