brakes grabbing too much screeching tires

98 ford ranger brakes grabbing too much screeching tires for the first couple of stops. This happens if you apply the brakes kinda fast. After a couple of of times it goes away..

Resurface the drums and purchase OEM Motorcraft brand brake shoes; then install. The friction material with Motorcraft (despite the higher cost) is more compatable and doesn't create that "grabbing" when brakes are applied.

The extra $$ for Motorcraft brake shoes is worth it.


I can say from experience... I had the same problem.

More than likely the drums are not adjusted properly. I would make sure the shoes are okay and replace them if needed and then turn or replace the drums as well.
