Blue Smoke

Our Truck has been a great truck and we've never had any problems. We just recently had the oil changed and since then occassionally when going uphill the truck will start to hi-cup and when you look in the rearview mirror ==you see this big huge blue smoke. The truck is not using any oil and the truck idles great and runs on flat land great. The truck doesn't do this on every uphill road but occassionally but the smoke is so bad that you can't see the car behind you. What could this be?

For a start you can replace the PCV valve-if it continues get the engine compression check or a leakdown test to identify where the problem is coming from.

Hello, my name is Dave

PCV stands for Positive Crankcase Ventilation and what it does is relieves the pressure in the bottom of the engine caused by the pistons and crankshaft moving which basically moves air like a fan would which causes pressure to build. If this pressure is not vented it can cause oil to get into the cylinders which in turn causes the engine to smoke. It is very easy to change the valve, it is in the valve cover on the top of the engine, I have attached the best diagram I could find that will hopefully help you locate and replace the valve.
