1997 Ford Ranger Truck has not been used in over a year

Truck has not been started in over a year
what should i do ? It did run at the time but nothing has been done to protect it. first i want to get it started and running it has was interior problems we can deal with later

Get the battery to full charge or put in a new one.
Trun the key to the run position and back several times before cranking to energize the fuel pump and then crank it and see if it starts, it should.


IF you live in a damp area or in the northeast there may be some aches and pains that will show from setting, but would cross that bridge as it comes.
Things like brake and lines may have suffered some corrosion, but get 50 miles on it or so and see how that goes.

Obviously get tire pressures up and look around in the engine compartment for any possible rodent damage.

After you start it and get it running, bring it to temperature and make sure there is no overheating or abnormalitlies. IF not change the oil filfter and grease the chassis and ujoints if applicable.
