I went to ehow and downloaded the steps to removing/replacing the fuel sending unit. It says the tank has a plug in it to drain any excess fuel which I can't find. Also it says to lower the fuel tank remove the two straps holding it up. I also says the 2 straps have 4 bolts. I have only found 2 which are located on the drive shaft side. If there are 2 more bolts the are along side the chassi/frame and I can't reach/find them. It seems that the tank wants to drop but it still attached somehow nearer the front of the tank along side the frame side. Obviousely something is still holding it up but I can't seem to locate it. Any suggestons? Thanks

on a mall pickup like this it's easier to pull the box off as there are usually 6 or 8 bolts holding it on. Justdisconnect the elcetrical connection at the back for the wiers and usually 3 guys can pick it up and move it backwards. Then you have easy access to pull the sender from the top and not have to drain your tank. JUst don't smoke or have open flame around when you do this. Then it's just a simple reinstall of the box....

Thanks for your reply, however I do not have 3 guys to help me. My gas tank is empty and I need to know how to lower it by myself. I'd appreciate any help at all. Thank you.

your tanks strapp bolts may be coming thruogh the side of the frame, so check there. Aso the straps may just be in slotted things and iwll drop down enough to drop the tank. If you have a hydraulic jack put that under the tank and drop it down with that. BUT , check your lines on top if you can see them as that may be holding your tank in the air....
