Thermostat is a good start! May be the waterpump, I have seen the vanes actually corode...see if you can tell if the coolant is circulating....look in the recovery bottle for swirling action.

93 f150 351,I just had the waterpump replaced about 4 months ago.Could it go bad in such a short period of time, also I though if the waterpump was bad there would be a small leakage from the weep hole on the pump? Also i flushed the radiator system out a couple months after having it put on and it was alot of rust.Should I still look into having the waterpump changed and is there anyway to test it to see if its bad?

thanks for the reply.....

i've looked in the recovery unit and i didn't see any kind of swirling motion.is this a good thing or is it suppose to have some sort of swirling motion?also i changed my thermostat and it still runs hot.i was wondering if perhaps it could be a faulty temp sensor?
