wipers quit Smelled something electrical cook. Replaced motor and burned out fuse. I have no power to new motor. Is there a relay somewhere that cooked? I unfortunately don't have an owners manual or schematic of system. Any help before it rains or snows would be great.

If you smelled burnt wiring, I would check where it goes into the steering column first, may have rubbed through Attached below are the wiring diagrams for your wipers

I have a 1996 Ranger XLT that is in good, almost perfict, running condition but the body needs alot of work. The problem is that a few days ago in the middle of a rain storm my wiper blades stoped working and i havent been able to get them to work sense. Im not sure if its a fuse problem, or if the motor is burned up.

Start by using your owners’ manual. Find your windshield wiper fuse, look and see if it has blown. If that’s not the case, then use your owners’ manual to find your windshield wiper relay. Check that as well.

Electrical problem
1996 Ford Ranger 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have replaced the smart switch and have checked the fuses but the wipers only work spasmatically. I have been playing with wires under the hood and it seems to have helped some but when I crank it up they quit working for a bit

Did you replace the wiper switch on the column? It is a known issue with these trucks.
