I am trying to get it to pass smog. i have a OBD II computer and the code P1143 comes up, this is the Evaporative Emission Control System. we have changed the solenoid, which was not working before, and it is now fixed. but the code still reads the same. how can i get this problem solved so it can pass smog?

Can you recheck that code? No such code for Ford...they run to 1142 then skip to 1150....

Ok it is the evap system, the way leaks are found in this system is with a smoke test, they hook up you system to a low pressure machine that pumps smoke in, where the smoke comes out, is were the leak is! Look for obvious cracks in the EVAP lines to begin with

Lean fuel condition could be caused by one of the following below:

1.Vacuum leaks
2.EGR and PCV valve.
3.Low fuel pressure.
4.Dirty fuel injectors.
5.Mass Air Flow Sensor.
6.Oxygen Sensor.
