1996 Ford Ranger broken oil filter

I broke the oil filter when I was changing it. I ripped it and cut it down to the oil filter base plate. The only thing left is the oil filter base plate and the screw it screws on to that is on the engine block. What is the name of the part of the block that the oil filter screws on to and is it removable?

Don't believe part is removable and even if it was you couldn't remove without getting filter off first. You can make a wrench to remove remainder of filter by cutting a piece of metal the size of the filter base. Then use new filter to figure where to put metal rods that will stick into the holes of the filter plate. Should get by with 4. These can either be welded to the metal plate or you can drill holes and use nuts to fasten rods to the plate. You will also need a nut or bolt in center of the removal tool for a wrench or socket. After you have this made, make sure it fits into holes of the new filter and if it does just put it on the broken filter and you should be able to remove it.
I used to have same problem on an old car of mine. Filter would not come off and I would end up ripping it down to base plate every time I changed oil. This wrench I made worked every time
