1995 Ford Ranger Replacing Starter on 1995 Ford ranger

In reading your questions on 1995 Ranger sarters I see no mention of the starter being a two part replacement, a starter and relay that work in tandem.

Do both parts fail together or could just one fail and how do you determine which? Or is it advisble to replace both at the same time?

When you say it has trouble what kind? Clicking? or nothing at all? If you hear a click, then either the battery is weak, or the starter, possibly bad battery cable connections, check and clean both ends of BOTH cables! Dissconnect negative(-) first, and put it on last! If no click the starter relay is no good!
