I recently replaced my 5spd trans in my 94 ranger with a low mileage rebuilt trans from a 1989. Trans is the same as one that was in truck. I ordered new clutch kit w/slave for 94. Slave was different (plastic not alum.) I was told it would not work so I purchased a new alum. unit. Put it back together and clutch would not bleed. Tried 30 different times and procedures, but still did not work. I then replaced master cylinder (pre-bled), still not working. I then replaced the new clutch/pp with the old ones (almost new), still nothing.
My questions: what are the differences in the 89 and 94 slave unit (plastic vs. alum.) other than the quick change fittings. Are the cluth and pp the same and/or interchangeable (part #'s are different but I was told it does not matter) What other methods of bleeding the system are there besides what the manual says.
