1994 For Ranger: 145,000. I seem to have an electrical gremlin. Sometimes when I start the car, the starter won't disengage. The only way to get it to disengage is to turn ignition key lock cylinder off(turn to start position & back a few times). I've had the starter replaced twice, the solenoid replaced 3x, the ignition switch replaced once, and the ignition key lock cylinder replaced once. Any suggestions?

Is the ignition switch adjusted properly? Any aftermarket electrical in the start circuit (car alarm)?
Are you using OEM parts?

1) You might want to look at the position of the actual electrical switch for the ignition.
On my Explorer. the switch is located further down the steering column. If the switch is loose or improperly positioned, the starter circuit could stay energized and keep the starter engaged.
2) try to start the car by applying 12 volts to the control side of the starter relay. Does the starter stay engaged? If it doesn't happen that way then I would guess that it is in the ignition switch.
