For a '92 Ranger, 4 cylinder, with dual plugs and dual coils, the check engine light is on. Trouble seems to be the "back coil" not firing on 2 of the cylinders. Is there a way to test the coil before buying a new one? Maybe using a digital ohm meter or something. It happened once before and I had a mechanic do the work and from a salvage yard the cost was $90.00 plus labor so I hate to buy something without being real sure. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Ron

you can use a ohm test. DIsconnect the electrical connectors from the coil. and connect an ohmmeter across the coil positive ans negative terminals it should read .3 to 1.0 ohms and allso you can test the across the secondary by touching the 1 and 4 spark plug terminals ans it should read 6.5k to 11.5k ohms
