I'm getting ready to replace my clutch master cylinder. The rest of the system is good only the clutch cylinder has a leak coming from the top of the cylinder, not at the pushrod, but the cylinder itself. I had to replace my cpp unit and after a few days I noticed I was loosing fluid and found that leak. My question is it necessary to replace the hose connecting to the slave cylinder also, or could I just replace the master cylinder and be good?

Hi TJ Powers,

Thank you for the donation.

The best way to ensure the clutch hydraulic system works well and is lasting is to replace the master pump and slave cylinder as a set.

If one item gives way, the other should not be far away and if you only replace the master cylinder, you might have to do the job again when the slave cylinder fails.
