I am having an intermitten engine tap - it starts after being at higher speeds [65 - 70] for approx. 20 min. but once the speed is reduced to about [25] it will go away. I just changed oil and flushed plus got a tune up however this has not corrected the issue. I was wondering if it could be a bad oil sending unit that is not performing to standards and the oil pressure is dropping then returning as the engine slows.

Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge to rule out a weak oil pump

Thanks .. that is going to be my next step. Talk to a mechanic who could hear the noise and he thinks it is a lifter chatter and would require a lift kit to the tune of $1,000 to repair - if you could provide any possible less expensie solutions it would be appreciated. I have increased the viscocity of the oil and added Lucus oil treatment and just recently added sea foam to clean the system but still have the tapping after high speed travel for approx. 20 - 30 minutes.
