I have a 1988 ford ranger (6cyl, 2wd) and would like to drain and replace all the transimission fluid. The guy at the auto parts store told me I could drop the pan, start the car, put it in drive, and let the pump pump all the fluid out. I tried this but it doesn't seem to work that way. Any Ideas?

on most automatics you drop the pan , change the filter ,put on a new gasket put back together ,fill to the correct level when hot & in park using the right type of fluid and you should be ready to go :D
