Transmission problem
1986 Ford Ranger 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

i have a 1986 ford ranger, automatic transmission with overdrive. i have a 2.9 v6 2 wheel drive. i was recently driving on the highway and my truck was slipping outa gear and when i would slow down it would slam back into gear than it just stayed outa gear. i recently have been leaking tranny fluid and did need my rear seal replaced. Now i cannot drive it and just want to know if i need a new tranny for my truck or is there something i can do that would be a lot cheaper. And if i do need a new tranny what other possibly transmisions can i put into my truck from other vehicles? keeping in mind that in my truck the shifter is in the floor. thnx, i hope someone can give me an answer.
