1985 Ford Ranger FRONT SEAL LEAK A4LD Trans

I have an intermitinent leak at the front of trans. It will go for days without leaking. Local mechanic says front seal needs replacing, a $550.00 fix. Could the cause of the problem be somethig other than the seal? Will additives like LUCAS help?

Chances are he is right. If the trans is leaking there, it is mist likely the seal. They make sealing products, but they usually don't work.
