1985 Ford Ranger Brakes too sensitive

I replaced my power booster and the master cylinder at the same time. Now my brakes are very sensitive; the first time I stopped when back on the road I locked the rear brakes.
What may be the cause of this?

The rear brakes are designed to do aprox 40% of the stopping. THe brake fluid is regulated through a proportioning valve, and it isn't something you can adjust. Now, a few things can cause this type of problem. First, make sure there are no leaks from the axle seals or the wheel cylenders. If brake fluid or gear lube gets into the drum, it can cause it to lock up. If everything is dry, my recommendation is to have the rear drums cut (as little as possible) to remove the glaze that builds up. Before replacing the drums, take sand paper and sand off the glaze from the brake shoes.

Wear an air mask because the brake dust isn't good for you.
