Electrical problem
1978 Ford Ranger Engine Size unknown Two Wheel Drive 220682 miles

My dad has replaced his alternator on his Ford Ranger Camper edition. It now seems to be over charging the battery causing the water or acid to boil over and producing a sulfur smell. Do I need to add some Distilled water to the battery before the Battery ends up a Dead Battery?

overcharging will boil the acid out of a battery, distilled water is advised. A word of caution, when around a overcharged battery keep anything with a flame or a spark away from it. after taking and refilling the battery make sure you wash the area down. Take it to a garage and have them check the charging rate.
