Engine Mechanical problem
1974 Ford Ranchero V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 183K miles

OK. 351 Cleveland. I replaced my 2v intake with an Edelbrock 4V piece. I used SCE intake gaskets with Permatex 1 Minute Gasket for end gaskets. I also put a layer of this on the head side of the intake gaskets. I have very dark plugs on 3 and 8 with all but 1 & 2 being darker than normal. I have a miss that gets better at higher rpm, say 3500 and up. There was no pcv on this engine when I did this swap. At the plastic elbow that comes out of the passenger side valve cover I have vacuum. Enough so that when capped the engine rpm comes up noticeably and smooths out a little with the increase in rpm. The drivers side has a filler cap only. How am I having vacuum in the valve covers? What can cause this? How do I fix it? Thank you for your assistance.
