1997 Ford Probe water pump

Ok, first off how experienced are you with working on vehicles. I ask this because the Water Pump is run by the Timing Belt and if you have to go that far you might as well replace all timing components at the same time. To be Honest I won't do a timing belt or water pump with this set up unless I replace everything involved.

i am not an expert. thats whay i asked you. I have the book that tells me how to take it apart. my question is how do i get to it.timing belt water pump, do i have to lift/drop the engine. the car body itself is in the way. yes i have tools required.

Ok, you will have to raise and lower the engine. It won't be a big problem since you have to remove to front engine mount. Before doing so of course you will need a floor jack and a piece of plywood at least 8 in wide by about 12 in long or 1x6 about 12 in long to jack up under the engine on the oil pan do NOT use just the floor jack plate you will bend the oil pan. Once that is removed you can lower the down enaough to get to the Crank Shaft Bolt. In most cases I have had to use a 3/4 impact (electric will work) to remove the Bolt. After removing the pulley you can jack up the engine enough to get to all the bolts. Before rempving the Timing Belt make sure you turn the crank until all marks line up were they are supposed to, pic below....
