Hi there - firstly thanks in advance for your help.

Here in Australia this week its over 38 degrees! I need HELP with my air con!!

Last week it stopped working, we had the gas and everything checked and it was fine, the local Ford guy fiddled with a relay somewhere and it started working again... He said it was some dust or something in the relay..
But again today its gone... and noone can look at it for days....

The Magnetic clutch on the compressor is not actuating... Any ideas?

Thanks again!

try jumping the low pressure cut out switch on the receiver dryer(thats the thing that looks like a oblong silver or black ball) unplug it and jump a wire across it and if it comes on then you need to replace it, this is called a low pressure cut out switch. hope this helps

Could be low in freon/problem with the relay/pressure switches or the magnetic clutch itself-

Thanks for the replies so far..

- Just to clarify.

Something is stopping the magnetic clutch from working.

We will check the low pressure switch, the relays seem fine and the fuses fine..freon fine.. clutch is fine.. got to be some issue with power to the clutch i think..

Its just the supply to the magnetic clutch from what we gather..

Does the low pressure switch supply start both fans and the clutch compressor???
Becuase the fans are running... its just the clutch..that is needed to start the compressor.

Anyone???

the low pressur switch when closed will energize the ac clutch through the relay. if the low pressure switch is no good the relay will think the system is out of freon and not allow clutch to turn on.

no the fans work off the high pressure switch. the fans come on to cool the condenser to lower the high pressure. the low switch has nothing to do with the fans.
