Hi I just bought a 92 LX Ex CHP. I noticed while driving it makes a weird noise like I'm riding on flats. The noise is coming from the rear of the car. When i accelerate it gets louder and is rhythmic. The car is a manual and has 260,000 miles on it. The car does not vibrate or anything so I don't know what the problem could be. Thank you for your time.

Is it a howl, growl whine or some other noise?

It's sounds just like driving on train tracks or a gravel and no matter what speed I'm driving always the same timing.

I'm sorry I should have put on there. It only happens while driving. I can't tell if it's one or both sides.

Ok so it would be like this bump_ _ _bump_ _ _bump_ _ _bump. You can time it exact same time everytime at any speed. The only diffrence is as I acclerate it gets louder it get's about as loud as you tapping (not banging) on the dash board. I don't know if the noise is heard outside the car or not. The noise starts around 10mph and up moving forward I have not heard it in reverse.

No it's deffinantly mechanical. I just drove home from work and listened real close. The best I can say is think of a train going down the track...it's the same type of clickity clack.. While driving down the highway with the accelerator down it's loud (like tapping your dashboard) if I let off the gas the sound goes away. I could still hear it slightly.

Yeah I have no idea it just gets a little louder. I have a friend that's gonna ride with me to see if he can figure it out. We also will put the car on lifts and run it and try and pin point the noise,
The car accelerates and kept up with my 350Z with no problem. Nothing in the back end seemed to slip...If I can get you better more detailed info I will. I really do appreciate your time. Thank you

Ok I'm not sure what an lx ex chp is could you refresh? front or rear drive...Rear drive most click and scrape noises ar u-joint related, or if you did the brakes recently you may have bent a backing plate...

I have come to the conclusion that it is the bearings. I don't knot how hard they are to replace or should I just get a new real axle?
