I have a 65 mustang with an automatic transmission that seems to have sprung a leak. I had recently replaced the pan seal and shortly thereafter, I noticed a pool of transmission fluid in my garage. Since I hadn't run the car in a while, I thought the seal didn't take. Well after a little trouble shooting, I realized the leak was not from the seal. After pouring about 2 quarts of fluid into the transmission, I noticed that the fluid was coming out of a "drain spout?" under the transmission. Since the car had moved fine before the seal replacement with minor leakage and I don't remember pulling any hoses from this "spout", I was wondering if you could tell me what this thing is and how to plug it. It is on the driver side just to the left center of the transmission pan. Thanks for your help.

Good afternoon,

Can you upload a picture of the plug you are referring to?

It is possible that the fill tube may be leaking fluid back out where the stick goes. That would be from the vent at the top of the transmission being clogged and not allowing air out and building up pressure inside the transmission.
