I have a 2005 Mustang GT with the 5r55s auto trans and 11,000 miles. I just had the OEM torque converter put back in, the pan dropped, and fluid replaced with Amsoil. On my way home, when making a moderately hard right turns with my foot off the gas the trans seemed to "pop out of gear". It would not engage drive, reverse, or any of the lower gears. I turned the car off, restarted, and it drove normally.
I tested it again with a hard right turn and it recurred, although this time it "slipped back in" after a split second or so. Since it's a sealed tranny, with no dipstick, I can't check the fluid level. Could a low fluid level cause this? 9 Qts were put back in, the torque converter was already mostly filled prior to install. The service manual calls for 12 qts. Thank you!
