to remove the lock cylinder for the trunk lid, you disconnect the trunk lid lock actuator cable. then remove the rivet that holds the lock cylinder. rotate the cylinder counterclockwise and remove it. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed. Remove the rear seats to get to it if you cant get the trunk open. You must drill the rivet out.

2000 Ford Mustang

I have remote entry. Neither of my remotes will open the trunk. The fuse is good. There is a click by the fuse box when I push the remote. Is there anything between the fuse and latch that might be bad or is it the solenoid in the latch?

Have you pushed the button in the glove box to see if it opens the trunk? If it does then it may be that your fob is bad. Let me know what you find.

1996 Ford Mustang mileage: 50,500.My trunk is popping open by itself.I can hear it happen. It sounds like I hit the "trunk" button on my remote, but I didn't. It just started happening this morning, and has continued for hours now. I keep shutting it, but it keeps opening. After it has opened, I can still hear the "pop" noise continuing. Also, I can't open the passenger side window with the button on the passenger side. It will only open from the driver's side. Could there be a problem with a fuse?

Scan the body control module and it will identify the problem you are having. There may be a short in the control module itself. It also could be as simple as a low battery in your remote controller.
