2004 Ford Mustang tranny jerks

Hey,

I got a 04 3.9 v6 with 55k miles on it. And I put roughly 15k of those miles on it. And ever since I got it I've noticed some "rough shifting" which involves 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear. Most of the time, whenever they shift up around 3,000 to 4,000 rpms I get a jerk out of them. I dont hear any clunking or grinding, I only ever get the rough jerk that even the passenger can notice.

Also, the tranny fluid was changed by the ford garage when I first got it.

Could this be due to after-market clutches?

So this is something it has always done? Does it shift soft at lower rpm's? Does it shift hard if you slowly accelerate or is it a harder on the gas thing?

Yes, ever since I got it I've noticed this. Whenever the ford garage changed the fluid and ran the car 15k miles ago they said it shifted fine when I asked them....
If I accelerate slowly I wont notice anything, but if I accelerate fast then I do notice the "slight jerk feeling".
But its never with 1st gear, I sure its only second and third gear, (poss. 4th) around higher rpms (usually aorund 2,500-4,000.) But the weird thing is, is that once in a while it wont do it.

I will notice this when the tranny is hot or cold.

I have drove an F-150 where as I dont notice this no matter what RPMs it shifts at.

I dont see any bulletins that pertain to harsh shifting for your car. Might be a problem individual to yours.Take it to a trans shop and see if they wil test drive it with you so you can see if they think there is a problem.Could be a sticky solenoid or valve in the trans
