The emergency brake lever pulls up and down very easily, so I know that this is the problem. Is there a quick way to disconnect the emergency brake so the car is drivable? and does the emergency brake go to both rear wheels or just one?

The emergency brake goes to both rear wheels. There will be a single cable that goes from the brake to a "tee" bracket under the center of the car. From the "tee" there will be a single cable to each wheel. With the brake lever down, pull rearward on the tee bracket and see if that releases the brakes.
