What would be the most likely cause for code 442 ( small leak detected) ? The hoses from the valve in the fenderwell to the manifold are disintegrating on the outside but do not have any cracks. I will replace them.

Is there a common failure of the valve or sensor? I would like to solve the issue without taking the inner fender apart again, but don't want to replace a part unnecessarily.

a loose or damaged fuel door cap is the most common as well as the cheapest cause for this code. however, it is very difficult to find a small leak in the EVAP system without having it tested with a fog machine .
