When I depress the clutch, whether I'm stopped or travelling, there is a loud, high-pitched squeal. It goes away when I release the clutch. Also, when I am sitting at idle, with the car out of gear and the clutch not depressed, there is a sound like the engine is gargling rocks. Both just started today. Can I drive about 25 miles in mixed city and highway traffic to my mechanic?

Could be the input shaft bearing or the throwout.
