1996 Ford Mustang smell of exhaust

on very warm days above 80 degrees, I can smell exhaust fumes through the a/c vents while sitting at a red light or sitting in traffic. with a/c outside air or max air on only... What do I need to do?

Hi there,

You may be drawing in exhaust fumes from the cars around you, rather than from your car, First have the exhaust system carefully inspected for leaks and repair any if found, next go to a quiet spot, an empty car park, maybe, idle the car with outside air on and see if you can still smell the fumes, if not, it just may be that you should keep the car on recirc air in the city, this will keep the fumes out and also keep the car cooler as you don't have to cool the warm air entering the car.
