1996 Ford Mustang evap sensor

Before replacing anything and wasting money, have the system fogged to identify where the leak is. Otherwisel, you will endi up replacing good things and never finding the problem.

I replaced the evap sensor, and the hoses. I also replaced a spark plug. It runs smoother,with the check engine light still on. I had Auto Zone check it again. The same thing came up. So what do I do next? Should I change ftp sensor? How do you go about having the system fogged? Thanks for the information.

As far as the fog, there is a port under the hood. A fog machine is attached to it and at a very low pressure (around 1 PSI) fog is fed into the system. If there is a leak, the fog will come out so you can identify where the problem is.

NOTE: What EVAP code was set? There are several. Before paying to have this done, make sure there is a large or small leak, otherwise you will be wasteing your money.

Is this the code you need to know? It talks about the fuel tank pressure. I wrote down what the paper from Auto Zone said, already, somewhere. It also talks about a FTP sensor. Thanks again deb

P1443 indicates a mechanical fault in the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Purge Flow System. Nine times out of ten this code is due to a loose gas cap. So that would be the first thing to check. Also, the cap may not be holding pressure.

The other things you can look for are pinched, plugged, blocked, cracked, cut or disconnected vapor hoses between the fuel tank and carbon canister. Check for a cracked or broken carbon canister or fitting(s).

I honestly feel that having the system fogged will help identify the leak. It could actually be the charcoal canister itself.
