I just purchased a 1995 Mustang convertible, and the driver's side seatbelt is non-functional. When I bought the car, a long strip of metal was unwound coming out of the side of the lower retractor assembly (I think that's what it's called, I'm a computer nerd not a mechanic). My girlfriend purchased a replacement seatbelt from a junk yard, including the upper and lower restraints as well as the needed lower retractor, but the belt is in poor condition. I would like to use the belt that came with the car, which is in excellent condition. Is it possible to seperate it, and if so, how? I have a Haynes repair manual, but all it says is to replace parts as necessary without instruction as to how to do so. Your help would be greatly appreciated!
