1995 Ford Mustang Rear Brake Caliper Tool

My brother is changing my brakes. He got the pistons to reset but he can't get the caliper tool off the piston. Is it supposed to come off the same way it went on?

If its the C-clamp type, it should come off the same way in went on but in reverse. What kind of tool is it???
