1995 Ford Mustang engine oil

I wanted to know more about synthetic oil. I have a mustang V6 1995 and it has 227 000 Kms. I was told that putting synthetic oil in would be a waste of money. Why that? And i've been told to not put synthetic oil in new engines before about 5000miles. The best thing for high mileage motor is normal engine oil with additives. Is that true? Anyone that knows more about synthetic oils I would appreciate to know more about.

well bro .i dont use synthetic oil .the only thing that synthetic oil does is last longer ,just last more but wont do anything else.dont use additives in ur motor ur just gonna end it faster .they use chemicals that cars dont need and you will just be waisting your money.companys of additives try to bullshit poeple all the time and oils.id recommend u use 10 w 40 motor oil not 30 to much miles.good luck

Mustang 87, I will have to disagree with you. Most new cars come with synthetic oil in them already, or a syntec blend. You want to stay away from oils like Penzoil, and now Quaker State cause they are high in Priffin, which causes a wax like build up "engine sludge", also stay away from FRAM oil filters which contain Teflon by DuPont which DuPont put out a statement saying that the Teflon they manufature is not recommended for use in combustion engines. You usally don't put Synthetic oil in high mileage cars due to seals wearing out. What I would suggest is running a Syntec oil like Kendall, Valvoline. Mobil 1 is a great oil. My mother in law runs it in her 199,000 mile 1998 Volvo. I would run one of them for an oil change, and watch to see if any leaks develop.
