1994 Mustang very weird radiator fan problem

i read that the fans work out of the car so that tells me that you hooked up a power wire and a ground wire to make them work. ok when you put them back in the car they don't work they still have to have the same thing and that means there is a ground left off some where because the rest of the power and all comes from the relays AC relay and Fan relays. good test find the the tempeture sensor usualy around the thermostat houseing with engine running unplug it wait a few seconds fans should kick on if not look for a bad ground when you unplug this it bypass relays comes stright from the computer and kicks the fans.( CAUTION ) don't jumper power to anything that your not sure of you may blow the computer most everything on ther has power to it already and uses a ground to complete the circuit.(NOS) 8)

You might think it's a bad ground maybe, that crossed my mind too but the thing is where should i start with ground wires LMAO.
Other thing i've noticed is the high current fuses box, the 60A Fan fuse i've check to see if there is a current when i turn the A/C on but it doesn't show activity at all

But i'll give a test at what you told me before to see what going on.

Hey man i did the check up, unplugged the temp sensor and the fan kick right on. hehe what's the next step now ? I'm still kind of lost in this puzzle, what else is there that might give problem that the fan and A/C won't turn on ?

ok now that the fan kicked on here comes the real fun parts. you going need a good test light.unplug the fan take your test light and put the clip on the pos side of battery and probe the two wires at the harness if the light lights it has a good ground if not that is your problem and you'll have to trace that wire to it's sorce .see i told you this is going to be fun :cry: ok at the battery on the negitive side there should bee wires going from there to the engine and some going to the body check and make sure all of these are tight. that will give you something to start with. and as far as the fuse goes it may not light till the circuit is complete. for wire is a very strange duck man and can scare the hell out of ya but just take your time and i'll work you threw it .like i said befor when you unplug that wire the computer bypasses everything so you may have a bad relaybut well get to thoes later,it is coming up 12:54 pm here so i will check back tomorrow for an up date i may have to go to the shop and get a wireing book to see how all this is run to help you better.(NOS) 8)

I don't think it might be the relay though, i replaced the whole module already that sits next to the coolant reservoir, from what i know that replaces every little piece off relay that you may find normally.

If you can help me out with the wiring that will be great,
to see where the fan and A/C gets their ground from.
But how come when i unplug the temp sensor the thing comes on with the same ground wire, and when i put the plug back it stops.
That whole thing is freaking me out, LOL

i know that it can drive you nuts. when you say module do you mean a little black metal box.if so that is what ford calls a multi fuction relay. that is what i was telling you when u unpluged that sensor the computer bypasses the coolant sensor and kicks the fans on and usualy you would change that sensor. but the puzzle here is when you turn on the AC why the fans don't come on there not wired threw that sensor just the radiator cool fan is but if just for the sake of finding out and there not much monet change that coolant sensor and see what happens that is if you want to try it and make sure they give you a sensor that has the brass on the end not a plastic one.(NOS)

Also if i'm not mistaken, the manual show that the 60A fuse is related with the fan and some other A/C stuff.
I'll check that out, switch the sensor maybe i'm in luck with that. Because it's weird I only took out the radiator patched the thing up and put everything back again there is only one plug that i removed and that is the fan plug.

Maybe they are related through that temp switch, i have no idea i don't think that stuff is expensive either.
I'll just get a motorcraft one i can't go wrong with motorcraft parts.

If you find out about a site with a showing a complete wiring diagram let me know about it.

if it was working before this is just a hunch. pull the plug back out and take a mirror and look inside the plug on the fans and see if the terminals are ok maybe one got bent and is not pluged in right.it is either that or you missed a wire somewhere bud. but i will still look for the wiring.(NOS) 8)

That's the whole thing, I don't recall seeing other plugs or something other than the one of the fan when i removed the radiator.

ok that's cool but what i'am saying is check the plug that plugs into the fan and make sure one of the termanals didn't get bent when you pluged it back in. if it was working before it has to work now or is there a possiblity it wasn't working before?and that is only a 64,000 dollar question :lol: (NOS). 8) DO you have a mic if so i added you to my msn and i might be able to explain this to you better if i can talk to you mine is [email protected] i will keep an eye out for you i found a book that gives the info but it would be kinda hard to tell you at this site.(NOS)
