Transmission problem
1993 Ford Mustang 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic
I have a 1993 2.3 Mustang with the A4LD automatic transmission. The transmission went out and I bought another with the torque converter. We have the old tranny out, but cannot get the replacement torque converter to line up on the shafts of the new transmission. They are a matched set that came out of another "93 and I test drove the car before it was pulled. There is a splined shaft within a splined shaft in the transmission and then there are two flats on the pump itself. All three need to line up simultaneously with their corresponding components in the torque converter so that the converter will seat properly. Is there a trick to this or is there a tool available for this alignment? We fought with this for a half a day and are no closer than when we started.
Thanks,
Tom
