Engine Mechanical problem
1971 Ford Mustang V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Ok so about a week ago I bought this car and replaced some items in able to get it started but the part that I'm stuck at is the carburetor. Ive tried to start it before and it has, but when u pump the gas, the carburetor shoots up gas and then the engine dies off. I got the thing rebuilt but when I tried again it started but it still shoots up gas and the engine dies off. Any ideas what the problem is?

no, made sure of that.
it's that the carburetor floods every time i get it started and then the car shuts down. I cut down how much gas flows into it but it still floods.

yes new float was installed, but now it won't start anymore. replaced the motor starter and cables but it keeps dragging. even the new battery has no affect on this situation. help!

Think problem maybe timing related chain maybe worn and slipped causing popup in carb and slow crank. Put on TDC see where DIST is pointing
