Engine Mechanical problem
1966 Ford Mustang V8 Wheel Drive Type unknown Manual 185000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I am having a problem with my car not starting. I just put in a starter yesterday. A Duralast lifetime warranty. The starter that was in it was about 6 months old. It was black and had like glitter stuff in it. She started right after that. I turned the key off and she started again. But now she dont want to start again. It just makes a whinning sound. Like the starter want to start but it dont. I was wondering what the problem was. Is it the flywheel, clynode, or something else? Please help me. My car is practally my life. I am restoring her and doing this on my own. I have a personal mechanic if it is something my apartment complex wont let me do.

it's either the flexplate/flywheel (most likely has chewed/warn teeth and the starter gear won't mesh causing the starter to freespin, or, bad starter.
