Steering problem
1998 Ford Mondeo Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Some water was accidently put into the recepticle under the bonnet that holds the steering fluid. Some people have said to me that because it was so little (less than 40ml) that the car would still be safe to drive.
Is this true or false.

It never hurts to flush the power steering fluid and now would be a good time. I wouldn't be too concerned with system operation, but water will promote corrosion of metal parts which can result in seal leakage. This isn't a reason to panic, but it probably shouldn't be ignored.

Thank you for your prompt reply.
I probably will drive the car this weekend but will get a mechanic to attend to it as soon as possible.
