My 1997 mk2 2.0l si mondeo has been of the road for some time, i have been turning the engine over every now and agian but couldnt take it out as it had no interior.......

I took it out for the first time in a while and it seemed to be reving at a very low stage and was slightly judery, but seemed to be getting better maybe because the fresh petrol was getting to the engine??

When i got onto the main road i put my foot down a little to try and kick it into life but may have broke it.

Now the probelm i have is that it wont start battery is fine spark plugs are good and there is fuel getting to the engine i have cheked all wires and they seem fine.

When i turn the key i presume its the starter motor that turns the belt to crank the engine, this just turns and makes a slight grinding/whirling noise but the engine doesnt start. I have put the car in gear and turned the key when i do this and let the break go the car moves but only on the power of the starter motor i think. It also wont bump start.

Please please please help........... Thanks.............

If its cranking over and will not start do below to determine if its fuel or spark problem.

Get a helper disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine atleast 3/16 away from ground-have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, cap and rotor, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors and computer Note: If it doesn't apply disregard
