Electrical problem
1967 Ford Galaxie V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I recently rewired my car with a hotrod harness..my battery is 2 months old and with my multimeter it reads 12.10 and when i turn the key nothing happens no sound no clicks nothing, when I jump it, it will run, but when i disconnect from the other car the battery goes down to 4.5 in a matter of seconds and dies. I took the altenator to autozone they said it was good. I bought a new solenoid and still the same. all the wiring seems good I'm at a loss on what is going on.help please...if it was the starter im told it wouldn't strt at all..is this correct?

first you have to see if your battery is charged up. Then if you feel you have a drain disconnect the positive cable and put a test light between the cable and battery post. If it lights with the key off then you have a drain. My suggestion as you put in a hotrod harness is to carefully recheck everything you did. If the car started and ran before you did this, then it should as well now. To make the relay work you need the start wire on the side closest to the battey cable. You could also have a bad cable going from the relay to the starter. Also if everything checks out ok, then put your test light on the starter to see if you aregetting power there. If you are, take a hammer and smack the starter. Alot of times that lets the starter work. Then have your starter checked.....
