1964 Ford Galaxie V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic n/a miles

Had problem before rebuilding carb [autolite 4100 600 cfm . When stepping down on gas pedal engine seems to want to choke itself and stalls sometimes. Hard starting too. Once rolling along engine seems to respond to accelerator more smoothly.

i'd have to say that the choke is't working properly. and not closing all the way. then your choke pulloff may not be working causing the problem you are experiencing. also make sure that there is apipe going to exaust manifold from the choke as there is a vacuum in the choke housing and it draws hot air from the manifold to keep the choke open.

Might want to replace the spray pump on the carb too.
