This morning I went to drive my car and immediately noticed a bird chirping noise coming from the left rear side of the car. It was not happening when I drove it yesterday. I decided to drive around the block several times and listen to it. It was mostly quiet enough that if I had the radio up I wouldn't hear it.

I decided that it must be related to the cold weather and went onto a road where I would be driving 30ish MPH. It got worse so I turned off of the road. Now it is loud enough that I actually thought it was birds at first, and is accompanied by a clicking noise. It will go chirp, click, chirp, click. It is definitely happening with the gas on, and maybe also with the break on. I think it is pretty constant. At that point I parked the car.

I live in New Orleans where the roads are pretty rough and full of potholes. I suppose my question is, what could it be? Is it safe to drive? Is it even safe to drive to a mechanic, or do I need to tow it? It feels normal, although I didn't really drive it enough to know for sure. The dealership is located about 20 minutes away.
