2004 Ford Focus Car shakes bad at 60mph and above?

Shakes or Wobbles problem
2004 Ford Focus Automatic 51000 miles

My car has recently been extremely skakey when i drive above 60mph. Its fine at 55mph but im afraid to drive over.. esp. on the highway. Could the wheels be the problem? Since im a young girl who knows nothing about cars im afraid if i take it in to get looked at they'll take advantage of me and i dont have a ton of money to spand fixing my car.
Please help!

that could be a suspension problem or it could be a slipped belt in the tires.

if you can feel the vibration more in the steering wheel verses your butt. then rotate the wheels from the front to the back.

if the vibration changes where you feel it most at, then it's in the wheels/tires.

I have a 2001 focus and i had this same problem. Mine would shake pretty violently in the steering wheel and I could feel it in the seat as well. I took it to Americas Tire and found out that both of my right side wheels were bent. I had to buy four new wheels. I would take it to a tire place and have them check it out. There were no other suspension problems once i got them fixed and it drives fine now. The wheels from americas tire were fairly cheap maybe $80 a wheel and they look good too. The only downside is you have to get all four. Unless the tires themselves are bad you will not need new tires. So it wont break the bank too much.

inexspensive solution( first) ,have your wheels balanced.
maybe an alighnment issue.
maybe a suspension issue.

rotating the wheels doesn't cost anything if you do it yourself.
