1997 Ford Fiesta broken belt

Hi i have just bought a ford fiesta mark 4 1.8 diesel and a belt went on it yesterday, however im not sure if the belt was the alternator belt or the cam belt. any advice?

do a quick compression check on cylinders with compression tester, if compression is good then it's not the cam belt
