1997 Ford Festiva tapping noise

Tapping noise was heard when accelerator was applied. No noise when accelerator was not applied. Havn't heard it for awhile though. When I first bought it it had the noise but havn't heard it for a few weeks now.

Hi there, this just may be a touch of engine ping, due to bad fuel or incorrect ignition timing, have the timing check and add some fuel system cleaner and see how that improves things, you will hear ping on moderate to heavy acceleration.
