What would be a reasonable/acceptable MTBF for a new distributor?

My apologies - I should have expanded it into its full wording. MTBF means Mean Time Between Failure, which is a length of time to be expected for a specific component to operate before failure. Can be arrived at by product testing, theoretical calculation, etc.

Hi there,

OK, well there is no specific test or calculation to determine the life of any electrical component, there are to many variables, extremes of temp can play a part, but its really just luck of the draw so to speak, other things that can cause premature failure are over charging alternators, voltage spikes, bad earths.
